Volunteer

Team 971 is looking for parents and adult volunteers who are willing to supervise the team during work meetings throughout the year and especially during the intense 6-week build season when the team works very hard to get a robot ready for the competition.

Ways to help

Driving
We need parent volunteers to drive club members to different events. If you are interested in doing so, follow the steps here.

Bringing Food
During the season parents usually bring in food on Friday nights for the students and mentors. There is a signup to have several parents bring in dishes so that no one person has to feed the whole team. In addition you can help bring snacks to the meetings.

Making Game Pieces
While the students are working on brainstorming robot designs, parents and mentors work on making some of the game pieces that will help them with prototyping and testing.

Supervision
The Adult Supervisors are responsible for ensuring the safety of the students and for looking out after the classroom and lab areas. Safety is our number one priority.

Here is an overview of the process and documentation needed for the application

After you have been fingerprinted, you will be notified when your fingerprints are cleared so that you can supervise the robotics meetings.

This process takes a little time so please start as soon as possible. It could take 1-2 days to get an appointment to be fingerprinted and anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks for the fingerprints to be processed.
