What a Season!

Updated: Aug 19, 2022

Spartan Robotics FRC Team 971 is back home from the 2022 FIRST Robotics Championship Competition!

The team was honored to qualify for the championships, for which only 450 of the best teams in the world qualified. More than 3,200 FIRST Robotics Competition teams competed throughout the 2022 season, with 454 teams from 43 countries advancing to Championship to compete for the world title.

Assigned to the Turing Division, Spartan Robotics competed against 75 other championship qualifying teams from around the globe. After two days of exciting and well-played qualification matches, the top 8 teams moved on to compete in the quarter-finals, with Team 971 competing as the second ranked Alliance Team Captain. After a nail-biting tiebreaker match in the semi-finals, the team advanced to compete in the finals. Team 971 rose to the challenge of competing against some of the top teams in the world, finishing second place overall as a Division Championship Finalist and received the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors!

Although Team 971 did not advance to the final Einstein rounds at Champs this year, their performance was exceptional throughout the competition and over the course of the whole 2022 season. Qualifying and competing at Champs was even more meaningful to the team this year after having the last two years of Championship events cancelled due to the pandemic. The level of dedication, professionalism, and hard work that our students and mentors put into competing at this level has been truly amazing. Congratulations to Spartan Robotics FRC Team 971 for an incredible performance to make your school proud!
